Doc Rivers returned to TD Garden Wednesday night for the first time since leaving Boston to coach the Clippers and it was quite an emotional one. Doc received a standing ovation as he entered the arena and he was clearly touched by the reception as he fought back tears in his postgame press conference.
“I’m still emotional. I thought the fans were…It was a really nice day,” he said. “It’s such a classy place here…..I was basically useless for the first 18 minutes of the game. It’s an amazing fan base. I just want everything to go well for them.”
“People don’t get Boston,” Rivers said. “You have to be part of it to get it. It’s a special place. The best decision I ever made was 10 years ago.”
