Gerald Wallace isn’t hiding his distaste for the Brooklyn Nets who included him in the trade to the Celtics which sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett to Brooklyn. However, he won’t let his emotions spill into the media, because his mom told him to keep them to himself ahead of Tuesday night’s matchup.
According to Baxter Holmes of the Boston Globe:
A reporter asked who suggested Wallace not to talk about facing his former team.
“That was suggested by my mom,” Wallace said. “ ‘Keep my mouth shut.’ So I don’t want to talk about it.”
[...]He didn’t expound on any comments Monday, though he added, “Once [his mother] found out we play [the Nets Tuesday], she was like, ‘Keep your mouth shut.’ She told me to put a piece of gum in my mouth, but they took all the gum off the table, so I’m just going to keep it to myself.”
