Iman Shumpert Gets On Carmelo Anthony During Timeout About His Defense (Video)

During the third quarter with 5:51 remaining in Sunday’s loss to the Pelicans, Knicks Iman Shumpert was shown by cameras ranting at Carmelo Anthony on the bench after a defensive letdown in which Ryan Anderson (31 points, 7-11 3-pointers) was open and made a three after Shumpert and Anthony seemed to have a miscommunication on a switch. Shumpert did not see any playing time after the incident and both downplayed it post game.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York:

“We had a miscommunication defensively,” Shumpert said.

Anthony said he did not have a disagreement with Shumpert. But that’s not what cameras showed.

The cameras showed Shumpert being demonstrative with Anthony in the team huddle in the third quarter. Shumpert appeared to be upset that New Orleans’ Ryan Anderson was knocking down 3-pointers while being guarded by Anthony.

Curiously, Shumpert did not play after yelling at Anthony.

Good it’s about time someone got in Anthony’s face cause we all know the coach sucks up to him. And then they sit shump after that? That says it all. MELO IS A LOSER.

It is kind of messed up that Shump didn’t play after getting on Carmelo. Looks like Melo sent him to the corner. Shump didn’t deserve the bench in that game. He was playing kind of hard. But lately that seems to be Woodson’s way. Play good I take you out. Curious to know if by chance JR Smith was put in to replace Shump the way he replaces Hardaway jr.
