During the third quarter with 5:51 remaining in Sunday’s loss to the Pelicans, Knicks Iman Shumpert was shown by cameras ranting at Carmelo Anthony on the bench after a defensive letdown in which Ryan Anderson (31 points, 7-11 3-pointers) was open and made a three after Shumpert and Anthony seemed to have a miscommunication on a switch. Shumpert did not see any playing time after the incident and both downplayed it post game.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York:
“We had a miscommunication defensively,” Shumpert said.
Anthony said he did not have a disagreement with Shumpert. But that’s not what cameras showed.
The cameras showed Shumpert being demonstrative with Anthony in the team huddle in the third quarter. Shumpert appeared to be upset that New Orleans’ Ryan Anderson was knocking down 3-pointers while being guarded by Anthony.
Curiously, Shumpert did not play after yelling at Anthony.
