In an interview with Bleacher Report in early August, Nets rookie, Mason Plumlee, hinted that the Nets had plans to retire Jason Kidd’s number this season, but the team made it official Monday, announcing via Twitter that his No. 5 jersey will indeed be retired October 17th before a preseason game against the Heat.
Kidd averaged 15.5 points, 9.8 assists 7.8 rebounds in six and a half seasons with the Nets, also leading them to two consecutive Finals appearances in 2002 and 2003.
