Reports: China, Arena Football & Clippers Are Metta World Peace’s Top Options For Next Season

According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN LA, Metta World Peace, who was waived by the Lakers using their amnesty provision, says he doesn’t want to be picked up off waivers by a small-market team, but would rather play in China or play arena football next season instead – also saying his desire to play for his hometown Knicks is a thing of the past.

“I don’t really want to play for anybody,” World Peace said Friday at the Lakers’ practice facility. “I don’t want to go anywhere. I want to go to China, or coach or play arena football.”

“I had a chance to play in New York [in the past],” World Peace said. “I wanted to play in New York when I was in my prime and I was young, fierce, lock-down [defender]. Madison Square Garden, that would have been sick. But right now, China is way more adventurous for me.”

According to Sam Amick of USA Today Sports, the 14-year NBA veteran also has the Los Angeles Clippers in his sights.

A person with knowledge of World Peace’s situation told USA TODAY Sports that he now has the Los Angeles Clippers atop his list of possible destinations..
