According to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal, Kevin Durant is leaving his agent, Rob Pelinka, of Landmark Sports and will join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
Jay-Z announced that Roc Nation would be getting into sports representation through a partnership with Creative Artists Agency in early April and has since signed Yankees second basemen, Robinson Cano, Jets rookie quarterback, Geno Smith, and Tulsa Shock guard, Skylar Diggins. Before the rapper/mogul can sign the Thunder star or any NBA client for that matter, he would need to sell his stake in the Brooklyn Nets, which he reportedly hasn’t done yet.
When asked if Durant is joining Jay-Z’s agency, a Roc Nation Sports spokesmen said, “no comment.”
“He doesn’t want a traditional NBA agent anymore…KD wants Jay Z to handle his branding. He had a chance to be with his idol and couldn’t say no.”
