Royce White announced Thursday via Twitter that he would be leaving the Rockets’ D-League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, after just 12 games. White, who averaged 9.6 points and 5.6 rebounds during his short stint in the D-League, tweeted that the team physician advised it would be most logical for him to return to Houston, not the Rockets, for the remainder of the season. The Rockets management reportedly had no part in the decision and have made no official statement yet.
According to Houston Chronicle:
Rockets management was not a part of the decision, according to a person with knowledge of their thinking on the issue.
Rockets officials would not comment. Even less clear is whether the agreement that White considered necessary to report to the D-League in February will protect him should the Rockets wish to suspend him again.

Never said I’d be rejoining the @houstonrockets… only that I’d be returning to Houston. Again, thank you @rgvvipers for having me.

To clarify, I’m not quitting basketball. I’m working out in Houston to better transition and prepare for next season. Very excited for it…
