Although the Hawks listened to deals up until the final seconds, including a 3-way trade with Orlando and Milwaukee, they ultimately decided to keep free-agent-to-be Josh Smith at the deadline. Smith will remain with the Hawks for the remainder of the season until he becomes a free agent in July. Talking with the media after practice Thursday, Smith said if he was to enter free agency, the Hawks will be on his list.
According to ESPN:
The Atlanta Hawks investigated offers for Josh Smith for several weeks but ultimately decided not to make a deal.
Looking to be headed for the playoffs, the Hawks decided to kept their leading scorer and longest-tenured player and re-evaluate the situation at the end of the season, sources told ESPN.com.
