To say Roy Hibbert hasn’t lived up thus far to his max contract of 4 years/ 58 million dollars is an understatement – good news is that there is 70 games left to get something going.  And thanks to a midnight call from head coach Frank Vogel, Monday may have been the start. On the season, Hibbert has only scored in double figures 4 times, and grabbed double digit rebounds just 3x. In the last 10 games, he’s only shooting 38%.  He’s stated publicly that he’s sick of “playing like some sh*t” and thanks to that call from coach Vogel, he finally showed some life with a 20 point/12 rebound performance in the win over the winless Wizards.  After the game he acknowledged the call and support.

According to ESPN:

Roy Hibbert broke out of a slump with 20 points and 12 rebounds after getting a phone call at 11:30 p.m. the night before from Pacers coach Frank Vogel.

“He’s always been supportive, and I appreciated the call,” said Hibbert, whose mother yelled encouragement from her seat near the court. “He just expressed his support and care for me.”
