In a wild turn of events,  James Harden has been traded to the Houston Rockets just 4 days before the deadline for a contract extension with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Yahoo! Sports reports. As previously reported, Harden turned down a 4 year / $52 million contract.  Cole Aldrich, Daequan Cook and Lazar Hayward are included in the package to Houston, in return, OKC will receive Jeremy Lamb and Kevin Martin. Houston is also sending OKC a protected first-round pick from Toronto, a protected 1st-round pick from Dallas and a 2013 Charlotte second rounder. Oklahoma City Thunder GM, Sam Presti released a statement confirming reports stating: “We wanted to sign James to an extension, but at the end of the day, these situations have to work for all those involved.”  According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Rockets intend to sign Harden to the max contract extension  (4 years/ $60 million) he was seeking from OKC before Wednesday’s extension deadline.
